About us

Growing up on a dairy farm, my family had prize cows I would show in 4H contests. My cow’s name was White Star and because of my love for her I wanted to be a veterinarian to take care of her in old age. She died from old age (for a dairy cow) at 12 1/2 years of age, while I was still attending the University of Illinois for veterinary medicine. After she passed I turned my attention toward my pet canine, Sox. I loved Sox nearly as much as I loved White Star, and I focused on being able to take care of him throughout his old age. My goal has always been to help pet owners extend their pet’s quality and length of life well into their old age.

More About Dr. Stubblefield

His undergraduate studies in the College of Agriculture and his D.V. M degree from the University of Illinois in Veterinary Medicine, afforded Dr. Stubblefield the opportunity to meet the lady who replaced White Star as “girl friend,” Jane. Jane also grew up on a dairy farm, in Western Illinois. And soon after Dr. Stubblefield received his Bachelor’s Degree, Jane became Dr. Stubblefield’s wife. After graduating from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Stubblefield served two years in the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) as a Commissioned Officer in the Epidemic Intelligence Service, stationed at the Southwest Rabies Investigation on the campus of New Mexico State University. From the Communicable Disease Center (CDC), in Atlanta, Georgia, he was a principal in the development of oral rabies vaccine as an immunizing agent to control rabies epidemics in the wild life populations of raccoons, foxes, and skunks. After his service for USPHS, Dr. Stubblefield was the primary internist surgeon for a multiple location, multi veterinarian companion animal practice for two and half years. Then, Dr. Stubblefield acquired Acre Hill Veterinary Clinic to serve this community for the past 4 decades.

Dr. Stubblefield has always had a passion for helping patients receive the best medical care possible to live long and healthy lives. This includes ensuring that pet owners have a complete understanding of proper care, addressing any questions or concerns our clients may have, and being available as health concerns may occur.

Dr. Stubblefield’s lovely wife’s name is Jane and they have 6 children, 3 of their own and 3 who have elected to join their family through marriage, and 4 grandchildren. Dr. Stubblefield and Jane have two cats, Matt and Bob. Matt is Dr. Stubblefield’s cat and he has been trained to do tricks, i.e. jumping through hoops. They also have 3 box turtles, Tina, Toby (who is at least 25 years old), and their baby box turtle (who has No Name), 1 Greek tortoise, and two African Spurred tortoises, Michael and Bernice. In Dr. Stubblefield’s free time he likes to go camping with his family and going to his grandchildren’s school and sports activities.
